Here in Minnesota, where this blog is written, the only safe flower for the month of May is the lovely pansy. Many a gardener has been fooled by sunny days and warm temperatures, as they try to get a head start on the spring annual flower planting. But then a day like today shows up, and all is ruined. We have snow in our forecast and temperatures plunging down into the 30's for tonight. Typical Minnesota May weather. However, the hardy pansy, sweet as she looks, will tough it out and remain beautiful through the night and continue to bloom until June draws closer, making it safe for the other wimpy annuals to make an appearance.
